    I always love TOS Spock/Uhura; they didn't get the chemistry out of nowhere for the AOS relationship. And I appreciate that you have Uhura be fine with 'discretion' and Spock the one who is beginning to chafe at it. The flirtation when he invites her to the arboretum is lovely. Of course SPOCK is the one who fails at discretion, because he's thinking too hard about it.

    Also, I appreciate the detail that part of the reason Spock reacts to McCoy is that it gets him to stop his needling. I can picture Spock making that calculation. He wouldn't react if he didn't already want to, of course, but come up with a logical reason for participating in the snark-fest? Oh, yeah. That is such a Spock thing to do.

    And oh, Kirk. You are not as perceptive or as experienced as you think you are ... I love that touch. "Is she any good" oh my god.
