  1. Oh! It's kind of interesting, isn't it, that Riker doesn't rescue Kal from the bullying? It tells us something significant about his upbringing, that he considers this -- being ganged up on, taunted, told that the war is his fault -- all something that a boy Kal's age should be able to handle on his own. For Worf, that's not as significant: it ties into Klingon culture. But for Riker...

    If Geordi, Beverly, Deanna, or Guinan were there, they'd all go directly to Kal to comfort him. If Picard were there, he'd break up the game and scold the kids. Data would ask pointed, innocent questions about why nobody was helping. But Riker and Worf just watch.
