   More interesting background. Evidently this is a post-hobos story. In Star Trek Hunter, Sela became the hero of the Romulan people after saving nearly 2 billion romulans from the wreck of Romulus and at the same time turning back a klingon attack.

   And now an anime connection - mechs... And a vanished colony a la borg, but not borg. Anti-borg.?

      Mechs are a part of the Mass Effect universe--you run into several in ME 2 and 3. And yes, the Romulans (at least those in the Republic), are developing their own culture and civilization while at the same time keeping older traditions.
