I really, really, appreciate the infection-control efforts here. I cannot tell you how many books, fics, and episodes that have left me screeching about proper protocols! It's so nice to see everyone doing everything right!
The way this is set up feels like a classic Star Trek mystery, and I love it. I like the way that Garrett's reaction to the corpses is handled and the compassion her commanding officers have for her in that situation. I also am really interested in what, exactly, happened here--though I sort of feel like you've already given us hints I haven't picked up. Onward!
I try desperately to not have my characters die stupidly, so when bio-hazard safeguards are called for, that's what the crew will do. Given the circumstances, a little paranoia seems called for. :D
