    Excellent work here filling in 'gaps' in the original episode. It's clearer than ever how fixated Decker has become on his own particular 'white whale,' tying it to his promise to his dead wife and to the citizens of the galaxy. After everything he's already sacrificed in his pursuit of this monster, the Enterprise and her crew must hardly register with him as an impediment.
