Look, I know I beta'd this thing but it still hits like a sack of bricks every time I read it. There's just SO MUCH here, La'an dealing with both dysphoria and such an uncomfortable legacy, the "it's fine for other people to be like this but not ME" and then the grief? Aaugh. All the feelings.
I just. Love your interpretation of transmasc La'an so very, very much. And the absolutely compelling version of James who is one of the first people who didn't hear a monster, or see a monster, in La'an's last name. Just ouch. I'm so glad this fic exists!
