Comment on Where Angels Fear To Tread

  1. An image of a hot cup of tea sitting next to an open book and in front of a shelf of additional books.

I really like this set up! My knowledge of Star Wars is limited, but this is an interesting premise. Hopefully I won't need too much SW knowledge to understand it.

Love the concept of "recently unaffiliated space". Such a bureaucratic way of putting it.

The worldbuilding here is really cool! Makes total sense that the Dominion's loss would change the balance of power in the Gamma Quadrant, and the political landscape you're building is fascinating, and very plausible.

Love the Romulan officer on the bridge! His snark is great. Although I'm curious why he's there with the war over. Are they just trying to strengthen ties with the Romulans or is there more to it than that?

Ooo, a Klingon also? Is the Klingon Starfleet or is she also on loan from her Empire?

Eee and a Horta! I love anything that brings in a Horta character! Devil in the Dark might be my favorite TOS episode of all time, and I've always wanted more of them.

And a killer cliffhanger to round us out. I am very intrigued now. Can't wait for more. :)

    1. Aaaah thank you for the lovely comment! My knowledge of Star Wars is likewise limited and rather casual, so Kemmasandi (still only on Ao3, alas) is handling a lot of the Star Wars stuff. This fic grew out of a long "what if we dumped our blorbos on one another and they had to deal with that" back in April, and swiftly got out of hand.

Tanek is largely there because the Romulan Empire got *very* suspicious the Federation might get imperialist about the newly "unaffiliated space", and wanted to make sure to 1) keep an eye on it and 2) make sure their interests weren't overlooked. Most of the Interpreter's activities are in the Gamma Quadrant, so they and Tanek are pretty solidly stuck with one another. J'etris, on the other hand, is another 'orphaned' Klingon (of the sort canon keeps giving us), and therefore Starfleet. And yes! I love Horta characters so much and I really wanted to include some of them in the Interpreter's crew, also as a nod to Diane Duane's wonderful books.

Thank you for reading and commenting! :D
