I had a table across from René Echevarria at a Star Trek convention a few years back. I didn't get to talk to her except briefly in passing in the hall - we both had a lot of traffic at our tables. She's every bit as cute without the spots.
There were a few DS9 episodes that hinted that both the sanctuary and trill society in general were fairly corrupt under the surface and a large portion of their society was repressed. I pushed it a little further by adding some racial distinctions.
