  1. I'm pleased Sandhurst is so quick to shut down Lightner's ideas about Cardassia. Politically speaking it's doubtlessly a mess, but it's, imo, always better to get people in social debt to you by helping them then it is to kick them when they're down because they've hurt you. Thinking cynically, helping someone rebuild a whole society is a debt you can lord over that resulting society for a long time, and definitely better than pissing those people off via exasperating their pain. They might still hate you, resent you for that debt and want to destroy you, but the optics of doing so will be different and might be more manageable in the long run.

And I see Sandhurst has passed on his pain of being forced into a job he didn't want! Hopefully they'll work that out, I can't imagine a space vessel full of strife between the captain and the XO is a fun place to be, lol. Poor people stuck with malicious compliance... that's gonna be some wild times.

I like Pava so far, and am eager to get to know all the characters better!

    1. Yes, Gibraltar is in for some challenges ahead as their intra-crew friction works itself out (or does it?).

Sandhurst has fought the Cardassians more than once during his career, but understands that harboring old grievances will only feed the cycle of violence. Let's hope he can convince young Mr. Lightner of that fact.

I'm pleased you're enjoying the story and I'm excited for you to learn all about the crew.
