Comment on Where Angels Fear To Tread

  1. An image of a hot cup of tea sitting next to an open book and in front of a shelf of additional books.

Nice chapter! I’m glad Diane met up with some people who aren’t totally awful even if their ethics leave something to be desired. I really liked the back and forth debate about the necessities of war. I also love that Diane pinged to what Tarkin is immediately and called him out on it.

Like LordMcCoveyCove I’m curious about the application of the Prime Directive given that the Republic has FTL. I’m not saying you’re wrong because, yeah, canon is so inconsistent with what it actually requires. And, either way, Diane is smart not to give too much away given how much she doesn’t know.

Still very much enjoying this story and excited for more :)

    1. As previously noted, yeah! I'd much prefer to have the original interpretation--it applying to prespaceflight only--but there's so much where it's stricter in TNG and I felt like that had to be addressed. It's so ill-defined, though! So here we're interpreting it as "don't meddle unless you have to and even then we reserve the right to fry you if we don't like how you handled it" which is a simply delightful situation to be in when you're a very long way from home and a prisoner. :D
