Comment on Where Angels Fear To Tread

  1. A First Contact specialist trying to escape the Mother of all First Contacts. Chester has rightly assessed the Republic military's growing dismissal of sentient rights, placing them at odds with the Jedi. Just wait until they meet the Empire to come... *brrr*. This war mirrors the Federation's own desperate soul-searching in its ongoing conflict with the Dominion. What are your morals and ethics worth if you have to violate them in order to save your civilization from annihilation?

There are no easy answers here, and unfortunately, I think Chester's attempt to escape will only make her situation worse.

    1. So one of the little ironies that I think you picked up on here is the way Chester is quickly dissecting how this war is gutting everything the Jedi stand for--while not examining her own reaction and desire to withhold information and get the hell out rather than coming to an understanding and alliance (which admittedly, is unlikely--but the fact she doesn't even consider it is telling). In other words, she might see clearly what the Clone Wars are doing to the Republic but isn't examining her own reactions as a product of what the Dominion War is doing to Starfleet...

It's a nifty thing I've been having a lot of fun writing. :)
