Ah, young love. Where three months can be an eternity. It will be difficult, but they'd best get used to it. There's no guarantee they'll be assigned to the same ship in the future, in fact, barring any 'help' from someone like Admiral Janeway, the odds are against it. But they've both chosen to serve Starfleet, and agonizing as this is, it's part of the life they've sworn their lives to.
