Oh, what a damnably hot mess this is! I know Icheb's trying to do the right thing, but cutting off a loved one while facing your own mortality is equal parts selfish, ignorant, and hurtful. Maren can put a brave face on, but the possibility of losing Icheb while he's hundreds or thousands of light-years away will only make her suffering worse in the end.
For being as brilliant as he is, the kid can be a complete idiot.
Good on J.Q. for being a supportive friend, despite for being madly in love with Maren, he's managed to keep that under wraps and be a good friend to the both of them.
The whole situation is a kick in the gut! Nicely done, you've made me sad and pissed me off at the same time! :D
