This is such a fantastic little character piece! It's also an interesting insight into the social world of Starfleet Captains--including the vicious gossip and the critique and the reactions to newcomers, and the ever-present toxic little eddies that form whenever sentient beings form social groups. (And this certainly gives me ideas for my own fic regarding another newcomer captain :).) The dynamic between these two is such a mess and I love it.
I also love Sandhurst being the bigger person and then proceeding to fall down the stairs.
So glad you enjoyed it. Sandhurst and Glover are both good captains, but Glover's in a very vulnerable place during this story, and when Glover's vulnerable, he attacks.
