Comment on My Shadow's Crown

  1. The too-smug Admiral Toreth got my blood boiling. The whole Romulan artifice that this was a genuine insult to their species is such utter horseshit that I'm surprised the Federation didn't tell them to go piss up the proverbial rope. Chester's actions were absolutely justified given the circumstances, and there's no way a human (even a Starfleet captain) would have any clue that what appeared to be an assassination attempt was actually ritualized Romulan kabuki. Chester's restraint in the face of this political theater was admirable. The only silver lining I perceive in this whole mess is that it diminishes Tanek, and anything that does that is all right in my book!

    1. Thank you! Hopefully the diplomats will work their way around to that conclusion, especially once they scrape their jaws off the floor (and Chester makes herself scarce for a good long time). But the Romulans are opportunistic and probably wondering how far they can use Federation respect for their culture as a weapon.

The diplomats aside, the real long term issue might just might be Tanek’s mother, the Senator, and her indignation that this horrible human would dare to presume to make such a proposition to her darling boy…
