If there is one constant of Chester's adventures, it is that anyone who kidnaps her very shortly has cause to regret it... and her alternate, as much as she might wish to be, is not an exception.
The major protective thing for Chester here is that she has always very much been aware of her own demons. There's not a lot (though there is some) that her alternate can do that will genuinely shock her, or dismay her to imagine in herself. And this is a serious advantage in someone whose superpower is Being Good At People... a distinct power from Being Good At Scaring People, which is her alternate's forte.
