  1. Oh I just love the Shangri-La-class design. It is so fitting to the Era and ... even at this juncture, it seems a pretty good match for this particular crew. It hits hard and it hits fast. And seemingly so for the past while, that has been the mission tasked of it. The ship, the ship's captain and its crew all appear matched to the task. It's a whirlwind introduction, a vibe more than anything about how the ship and crew works. And the vibe also sets up the setting of the Era and premise with raiders and scoundrels to be swatted.

It wasn’t a need for combat, per se, but rather her being the calm center of the storm of activity that swirled around her, a storm whose course she bent to her will.
This line speaks to a lot of Nandi's character, I think. She's more than capable of meeting such challenges, showing her incisive tactical skills and stratagems in the quick but fiery battle here against the Nausicaans. Yet, a part of her yearns for something more or tires of not making inroads on threats like these Nausicaan raiders. But despite a thought about what they might be missing out on, and a worry that they might fall into the trap of solving every problem as though it were a nail, Nandi will keep the peace and the law and order of her mission. So it is a chilling but fitting choice of hers to hand the raiders over to the Klingons to receive Klingon justice. It might seem cold but her reasoning is far from cold because she recognises just how far reaching the hurt of these raiders actually is. I just love her for this streak and the determination. And her last line is just killer.

Loving the Border Patrol vibes here Gibraltar. How could I not? I also thrill at the little UT callbacks such as the Albacore and Starbase Echo.

    1. True, Nandi sometimes yearns for something new or different to break up the tedium, but ultimately she is what she is. As for the Nausicaans, she felt that a cushy stint in a nice, civilized Federation penal facility was too good a punishment for them, and that the Klingons had far better penological assets in place to deal with their particular correctional needs. ;-)

      Thanks!
