Comment on A Line of Legacy

  1. I sincerely and deeply adored all of the history you layered into this! McGregor's and crew's penchant for honoring the past has always been one of the more charming of traits; I always loved it when we could play into that, like with the Shikra in the first Round Robin. Also love to see those moments where McGregor lets his shields down even a little bit and lets people see the kind of man he is behind them. Which-- yeah, he's nuts, he's hard, but not without reason. And when he shows his heart, I wonder how many people are actually surprised at the size and depth of it.

So-- wonderful stuff, of course. I expect nothing less. XD Good work, Kev, thanks for posting it!

    1. Awww thank you Steff. I of course, am kicking myself for not including Shikra but I will have to whenever it appears in the canon chapter of the story.

I also love that you read into McGregor's actions and interactions what no one else quite does (or certainly upfront about them). He probably has his shields down more than most realise, it's just knowing when he's speaking truth and knowing when the lies and bluster are speaking to their own truth.

And yes, I do sometimes wonder at why people are surprised he has a heart. I guess first impressions last. Which if anything, I hope my Kestrel story worked at stripping away that first impressions really shouldn't count as being a window into the whole person.

Thank you for this wondrous review.
