The Orions being worshipped is an interesting idea and probably not that far-fetched considering their biological makeup (no pun intended). The Deltans could fall into that category as well. Then again, let’s face it, for some people it doesn’t take much to attribute special or supernatural powers to others without any empirical evidence.
Still curious to see where you’re taking this. I’m bracing myself for a few surprises.
In my trek-verse, humanity, along with the vulcans, the ferengi, andorians and orions are among very few races who independently developed warp technology. The vast majority of what are now Federation species (and several other spacefaring races outside of the federation) became space-bound first as slaves of the orions or some other space-bound race. The orions in particular not only took slaves from their various homeworlds, but bred them in captivity and many of these escaped with detailed knowledge of orion technology and significant understanding of advanced science.
That makes the purple a member of the rarified group that managed to develop warp tech independently. And there is some surprising makeup coming... Quite a few head-scratchers actually. I just completed Ep 13 and am now drafting Ep 14 and I'm still just discovering this part of the galaxy. Ep. 13 pretty much wrote itself as the entire episode takes place in the space of about 8 minutes.
