This is a very dramatic opening chapter. Of course Maren is sent somewhere very outside her comfort zone. I think reprogramming the computer counts as using your wits tho. I love the idea that it's actually polar bears (and the cold) that poses the greatest risk. I hope she gets to do something clever with snow! its a great insulator. I'm thrilled you posted this to the archive! I can't wait to read the rest the story. :)
