The implications are fascinating. I'm wondering two things: how long is her prison sentence going to be (some prisons have prison nurseries that allow inmates to keep their infants and toddlers with them in prison), and also, what are the laws regarding children of people with genetic modifications? Not just what stigma would the baby face, but would it face the same restrictions and penalties as any genetically modified human? Would they choose to send the baby to Khan, because of that?

    1. My thinking is that Marla would be allowed to keep the baby for the very beginning of its life.

There's definitely a lot to ponder with treatment of genetically modified folks. Since people who were augmented as kids get punished even though they had no say in the matter, I can't imagine the Federation would have a much more charitable view of people born that way.

but still probably not as bad as sending a toddler to live with a fascist dictator on what's (best case scenario, as far as anyone knows) a very hostile subsistence living environment

      oof
