More Captain nicknames! LOL. Lots of connections here between folk all interesting as things begin to hit the fan once again. In the midst of it all, Chandra and Decker have to contend with 'CREW' and attitudes, that are soon shown the what of what. Gotta respect how Chandra was giving outs here, keeping things low key so the officer did not lose face until there was no coming back from it when they failed to learn the lesson being offered. There's a lot to like in this instalment but I have to say the bit that's sticking with me is Patience and Charity Brannigan. The Founder lays out a case for Section 31, showing a sort of good guy within the fold, as though there was a prospect that Section 31 was indeed conceptualised with a noble purpose. It does make you re-evaluate them as mere goons and spooks interfering with the grand political situation of the galaxy. Amid the insight to a possible nobler version of Section 31 who might try to fight the more distorted version we find that in Panara has a connection to Chandra. That small-universe rule means to say Patience gets a 101 schooling of Chandra's motto when it comes to a fight. But alas, that knowledge of Chandra may mean Section 31 has a certain insight into how Chandra ultimately might operate.
Daronex is definitely a work in progress. I think that Chandra will try to do what she can to find what the best spot is for him, but as you say, not in the middle of a battle. He’ll have to sink or swim, like all of them are as it unfolds.
We’re still not sure what Charity’s motivations are, for what she founded after the Control fiasco in the mid-century (Discovery Season 2). I think that she believes in the ideals of the Federation, but she still is a great fan of ‘by any means necessary.’
We’ll see how much of a ‘white hat’ she is, in her mind or in others. Patience is also caught in between her grandmother and what she believes, as she formulates those principles, like any young person trying to make their way in the world.
