Comment on State of the Archive - 7/2 - 7/8

Like jamaharon, I just wanted to say thank you for creating this. Star Trek is my main fandom(s) and I really appreciate having a fandom specific archive to post to (especially since the Kirk/Spock archive, which I used to use, got merged into AO3). I'm not a coder, but I'd be willing to help out in some capacity if you ever need another pair of hands to keep things running.

    1. I wish we could have switched over to otw-archive before the K/S Archive was imported. I did reach out to whoever was running it, because the eFiction version is still online, to see if they wanted to mirror an import here, but I haven't heard back. (I'm also trying to get ahold of Ratliff, who maintains Trekiverse; their eFiction has been down for years now, and Trekiverse is an old archive I'd hate to see go offline.)

Mostly the thing I think this archive needs is just participation and community. IE, people being involved with it, and with each other. It really is love that built it, love that kept it alive and absolutely love that had me coding 50+ hours a week for two weeks, all seven days in the week, (and through three server wipes!) just to get it running on otw-a. LOL! So-- mostly that. Love it and share in other peoples' love of it, and hopefully we'll be running in fifteen more years and then some. XD Thanks!

Oh, I've read some stuff on Trekiverse! Was that the one that had so many fics called "Aftermath" that they had to ask people to stop using that title? I know there was some Star Trek archive that had that issue. Anyway, I wish you luck in saving it. :)

        1. It might have been! It's the archive for alt.startrek.creative and associated newsgroups. I think Stephen was trying to get it to be universal when he moved it to eFiction, but the original ASCII archive is still online.
