  1. Have I read this one? I genuinely cannot remember. Maybe because you doubled it 😆

Either way it is fantastic. Totally expected amounts of chaos and terror and overthinking from our boy. The absolutely exhausting weirdness of a day like that comes straight through. And I was instantly worried about his at the doctor and psych exam, but of course it was the dentist that set him off. (The lab coat … lol.) All very real and visceral and with tons of fantastic detail, in even thinking through what that process would be like (much less Scotty’s experience with it.) (Got me wondering about the other guy, whose experience would not have been like that at all.)

    Loved it, as ever.

    1. LOL! You might have, but I'm not sure. Honest to everything, Dara, I'm not sure which ones you've for sure read except I think you read ONOW back in the day, and I know you've read Forty-Eight and everything that came after since we reconnected. But I'm not sure which ones you had read in the past, so it's a treat hearing what you think now any which way.

I remember, and this is relevant, that the first time I wrote this, I already knew and had known for a long time that he's an abuse survivor, but I remember taking a lighter tone with the original version. So, when I went back and revised it, I went into some more detail on what he actually was doing, but also a bit more how anxious he really was the whole time, too.

And yes, absolutely. The dentist, not because he ever actually had a problem with a dentist, but because he was on his back and someone's hand was reaching a shadow over him. And also because I wanted to explain Jimmy's crooked bottom teeth. LOL!

      Thank you. <3333
