Summary:

Scotty meets his future.

Notes:

Am I going to ship this on SNW? Who knows, we’ll see. But I was struck early in this episode by the thought that Uhura loves engineers 🤣 so when Scotty then SHOWED UP, I had to write this. Fitting Ad Astra’s weekly challenge was an extra fun bonus. ❤️

“Uh, hi, Lieutenant Scott, right?”

At the unexpected voice, Scotty banged his head on the console he was working on as he scrambled to get out from underneath it.

“Oh my gosh, I’m so sorry! Commander Pelia told me to come help you.”

He looked toward the source of the voice to find the most beautiful woman he’d ever seen, flashing him a stunning smile in apology.

“Ensign Nyota Uhura,” she introduced herself.

“Scotty,” he replied in turn. “But, uh, guess you knew that. Professor Pelia sent you? You an engineer?”

“No, just a fan,” she admitted with a wry grin. “Communications. But she said you needed an ‘outside of the box thinker’.”

He rested his arms on his knees looking up at her. “And that’s you?”

“Well, so far today, I threw the Cayuga’s saucer section at the Gorn’s signal jammer.” She raised an eyebrow. “Is that outside the box enough for you?”

Scotty’s eyes widened. “That was you? Well… alright then,” he conceded, impressed, gesturing for her to join him under the console. “Let’s do this.”
