Nyota carefully picks out the last few notes of the piece, fingers moving steadily over the strings of the ka'athyra. She waits until the sound has died away before placing it down gently.
"A satisfactory attempt," Spock says, which for him is great praise. "You have improved greatly over our time together."
"You're a good teacher," she replies, hesitating before adding, "There's a music night next week, in the recreation room. I've been thinking I'd like to play for everyone. If you don't mind me borrowing your instrument."
"I believe that would be acceptable," Spock replies. "I may even attend, as long as you do not expect me to offer an accompaniment."
She smiles, unable to pass up the chance to tease him. "Vulcans don't sing?"
"Some do, however I do not."
She laughs. "I'll keep that in mind. But thanks."
Spock's expression softens briefly. "You are welcome," he says.
