Kira sat at the bar at Quark’s, shifting uncomfortably in her seat as she waited for Jadzia. They were meeting for a drink and a holosuite date. Initially, Kira was more excited to just get a stiff drink and only agreed to the bizarre sounding holonovel because it seemed like it meant a lot to Jadiza. That was before she knew what she’d be wearing. Her attire was inspired by old illustrations of the hero from Earth folktales: brightly colored, bold, and very old fashioned.
“Well met, fellow traveler.” Kira nearly jumped to hear Jadzia’s voice behind her. Jadzia was dressed in a similar style, only she had a hat with a massive feather plume.
Kira stifled a laugh. “Do you think we could skip the drinks and get this over with? We look ridiculous. Everyone’s staring.”
“Staring at the beautiful maiden? I’m hardly surprised.” Jadzia took Kira’s hand and bowed to kiss it. “Besides, we're still early for our appointment.”
Kira sighed. “Fine. So, tell me more about the program?”
“It’s based on an ancient Earth folktale. Benjamin told me this story is very important on Earth.”
“Yeah. What’s it called again?”
“Shrek.”
